All slides and spec sheets are prepared for client review. Adjustments can be made during this meeting, after which slides are signed off, and the final payment is collected. Further revisions post-approval are billed hourly.

It is done in a series of 5-6 meetings, so as to not overwhelm the clients. If a home gets to be over 7,000 sqft, it might even require additional meetings. Also, the more our clients trust the designer, the easier the process goes, the better the cohesiveness of the overall design and the less likely that a change will be made to the design by the client that leads to a domino effect of other decisions needed to be made to get the design back into balance from the one change.
Clients sit down with the designer to thoroughly discuss their design. On occasion, clients may be asked to attend a showroom to see material(s) or to make a selection but overall most decisions are made in the design center where the designer has materials laid out on the table to make selections from. It narrows down the design quickly and eliminates the need for clients to be driving around making decisions and getting pricing on their own.
Clients are asked to make decisions in a timely manner and are guided to make decisions and changes in a manner that streamlines the process and keeps things flowing. There are hundreds of decisions that need to be made so it is important that clients let the designer guide the process and recognize that with all the many options available, a home design could be done thousands of different ways, but to trust that their design will transpire into something truly remarkable and unique and they try not to make too many shifts and changes to the design as it goes.
Clients are asked to review slides as they are updated and to communicate to the designer if anything is incorrect or missing. Once design is complete and everything is signed off, clients can expect the builder to then be able to get the bids….at this point if adjustments need to be made for the budget, design details are eliminated or re-selections may have to occur, but we do our best to avoid it in as many areas that we know how to create actual budgets (tile, fixtures, hardware) without the need of getting rep bidding (i.e., trim work, cabinets,) which is harder for designers to actually know off hand the costs of.
